01 / Test a DayZ session

Find a server.
Prepare your mods.

Install the latest preview, start Steam online and finish any DayZ updates first. An owned, installed copy of DayZ is required.

  1. 01

    Check the game folder

In Settings, confirm the DayZ folder and Steam helper status. Use the same Windows user for Steam and Flarecall.

  2. 02

    Browse live servers

Open Servers and select Refresh. This preview lists servers with players at discovery time. Open a server to check its live ping and current mods.

  3. 03

    Join and prepare

Try an unmodded server first, then a server with a small mod list. Join asks Steam to prepare required Workshop mods. Unverified or incomplete mod lists block launch.

  4. 04

    Verify inside DayZ

Finish any first-run Steam or BattlEye prompts. Flarecall confirms the game process is running; verify the actual server connection inside DayZ.

02 / Hands-on update test

Try a real update.
0.1.3 → 0.1.4

For this test, start with the older 0.1.3 preview below. If you already installed the current preview, “no updates available” is the expected result.

Start here: preview 0.1.3

Windows x64 · 4.4 MiB · Earlier test build · No Windows publisher signature

Download 0.1.3 for the test

  1. 01

    Install and open 0.1.3

Run its installer and open FlarecallPreview. Close DayZ and let any mod operation finish before updating.

  2. 02

    Check for updates

Go to Settings → Updates → Check for updates. The preview channel should offer 0.1.4. An automatic check also runs about 20 seconds after startup.

  3. 03

    Update and restart

Click once. Flarecall downloads and verifies the package, then hands over to the installer. You can cancel before installation starts.

  4. 04

    Check the result

After the app reopens, Settings → Updates should show Installed: 0.1.4. Check again: no update should be offered. Your preview settings should still be there.

If something goes wrong: keep the exact error message and your Windows and app versions. If needed, rerun the current preview installer to repair the installation. Remove the app through Windows → Installed apps → FlarecallPreview.
