Field guide / DayZ on Windows
About Flarecall
An independent DayZ launcher project by CRYOSS, built around server discovery, Steam Workshop preparation and a clearer path into a session.
What we are building
Flarecall brings a DayZ server browser, local favourites, Workshop mod preparation and launcher updates into a Windows desktop application. The aim is to make the work before a session understandable: which server you chose, which mods it requires and what still needs attention.
The app uses your existing Steam client and installed copy of DayZ. You do not need a separate Flarecall account, and we do not ask for your Steam password or Steam Guard code. Settings and favourites stay on your PC. The privacy page explains the website and application’s current data practices.
The release available today
The free Windows x64 preview is available for Windows 10 and 11. It includes real server discovery, Steam Workshop preparation and one-click preview updates. Discovery currently includes servers with players at discovery time; empty servers are excluded. Catalog information is a snapshot, so the live server detail check matters before joining.
Publisher signing is pending, and the complete Windows–Steam–DayZ acceptance test is still in progress. This is not a finished public beta. The cryptographic signature used to verify update packages is separate from a Windows Authenticode publisher signature. Screenshots on this website are labelled development previews and use sample data.
What the launcher can verify
Flarecall checks Steam’s item state and the available installation paths before launch. If the current server mod list cannot be verified, joining stops. A game process being visible does not prove that a server accepted the connection; that must be checked inside DayZ.
Linux and Steam Deck release validation remain later work, and no macOS installer is offered. The Windows preview should not be read as a promise of support for every operating system, mod collection or server configuration.
How we maintain the guides
The DayZ guides describe the current Flarecall workflow and link to relevant primary documentation. Review dates show when the content was checked. Implementation checks and Windows acceptance tests are identified separately so a code-level check is not presented as a successful live game session.
Our launcher comparison is published by Flarecall and therefore is not an independent review. It uses competitors’ own documentation, links to their original download pages and avoids unsupported performance rankings or ratings.
Project and server-owner information
Flarecall is a project by CRYOSS. Server operators can read the scanner information and contact route for questions about public query traffic or listings. Flarecall is not affiliated with Bohemia Interactive or Valve. DayZ belongs to Bohemia Interactive a.s.; Steam and Workshop are Valve services.
